Storelli BodyShield Goalkeeper ¾ Shirt Review
Every once and a while, a product comes along that just makes so much sense. It makes you wonder why it had not been thought of earlier, and that product is the BodyShield GK Shirt from Storelli. There are two main areas that a good piece of goalkeeper equipment must provide in order to be deemed a good product, and that is protection and an enhanced ability to stop the ball. We’ve seen this kind of technology applied to goalkeeper gloves, through finger spines and high performance latex palms, but that is only your hands, and as any goalie should know, the use of your body to stop the ball from crossing the line is just as important.
What makes Storelli’s goalkeeper shirt so different is that it takes into account several things that no other product out there ever has. It provides protection sure, but it also utilizes a technology that is going to be very beneficial in not only stopping the ball, but also in preventing rebounds. This is all due to a strategically placed chest pad, the ChesTrap, made from high-performance Poron XRD polyurethane foam, that is designed to absorb all impact. Catching the ball into your chest is going to be one of the most common types of stops that a goalkeeper is going to make, and the chest pad on this shirt, seriously makes it that much easier. It literally absorbs all of the impact for you, not only providing some added protection, but also making for greater rebound control, which can be the difference between a save and a goal. It is one of few technologies on a soccer product of any kind that is going to have a serious affect on you will perform, which is great.
Along with the chest pad, you are also going to get shoulder pads, elbow pads and even pads covering the sides of your ribs. This is protection that is not offered from any other soccer specific product on the market, and is easily better than anything that it is competing against. It is also worth noting how well that it all fits and feels when you put it on. For the amount of protection that it provides, it has little to no bulk, and the pads are flexible, so they will form to the unique shape of your body. You will have no trouble at all fitting this under your goalkeeper jersey. The shirt is also only ¾ length in the sleeves, so your forearms are free of any extra material that may otherwise be in the way.
This is seriously a product that looks and feels professional. It feels like some kind of lightweight body armor, but for soccer of course. For $80, I can’t see why you wouldn’t want such a great product. If you are a goalkeeper looking for an edge, as well as some good protection, the Storelli BodyShield ¾ GK Shirt is definitely something that you should take a look at.
